Guest Preacher Coming!
We are excited to announce that Rev. Rebekah Simon Peter will be with us on Nov. 2nd for All Saints Day. Some of you may own one of her books that we did for Easter this year. I actually own all of her books and have used them as a resource for casting vision in our congregation. My very first sermon series as your Senior Pastor, I used her book as a resource. This is what her website says:
“Rebekah Simon-Peter is a visionary leader, acclaimed author, and dynamic speaker dedicated to empowering individuals and faith communities to embrace their divine potential. The author of seven books, including Believe Like Jesus: Rising from Faith in Jesus to the Faith of Jesus; Forging a New Path; and Dream Like Jesus, Rebekah challenges and inspires others to move beyond discipleship into apostleship—boldly co-creating miracles with God.” (Click here to read more.)
Rebekah will be doing some coaching and motivating in Oklahoma on Nov. 1st and we were invited by our district superintendent, Rev. Jeff Jaynes, to host her on Sunday. This is always an important day in the life of our church. We will be lifting up the names of those from our congregation who have gone on to their heavenly reward since last year. For those of you who want to remember a loved one who was not a member of this congregation, we will have the butterflies again that you can write their name on. We will gather these together up front on the prayer rail. You may fill out as many butterflies as you like.
Also on November 2nd, we are hoping to have our first worship service in the Worship Center at our new location in Bixby. I want to thank all of you who have shown up to help us get ready. We have a punch list of items that still need to be done. If you would be willing to hang a door, paint a room or install window cling please let me know. We can open the building for anyone wanting to help at any time. Today the electrician has been there installing a new box and hooking up a new air conditioner. Both of these were unforeseen costs that surprised us. But we are excited to see so much progress and hope around finishing. Nov. 2nd is our goal but we may not make it. Our new sign should be shining on Memorial Drive next week. The boxes of kid’s supplies have started piling up in the workroom and we can’t wait to see how wonderful that it will be.
Rebekah Simon Peter doesn’t know that she helped us dream “Jesus sized” with the new location, but we can share that with her. She dared us to be bold and let God lead in her book and we have done it! I can not wait to see what God will do with this new ministry, outreach and mission of Faith UMC.
I am excited about our future and our guest to hear about how big we have dreamed,
