Plan a, b and now C

I can hear the sky rumbling as I type this blog entry. We are under a flash flood warning and the chance of rain is 90% every day this weekend until Sunday. We have been talking through alternative plans for the Fall Fest if the ground is too wet to be in the front lawn. Plan A is to be on the front lawn next to 91st street to be highly visible. Plan B is to move onto the asphalt if the ground is too mushy. Plan C is moving it inside due to rain. Because it is Oklahoma there is no telling what might actually happen. It is important that you know that we will be having the Fall Fest on Sunday no matter what the weather brings us. We will pivot and we will all have a great time. We want to say thank you to all the many people who signed up to help us host the community. It is a joy to serve alongside you!

The Bixby church plant is also on Plan B or C. We have been waiting since January for a church planter to be assigned to our new location but the right person hasn’t come along yet. In an effort to move forward, we have been working on a plan to hire a temporary part time location pastor. We have also considered dividing the job into two jobs. We are currently wanting to hire a Kid’s Minister for the Bixby location and we need at least three nursery workers. Click here if you are interested. The Kid’s Minister is only a 10 hour a week part time position working with Linda to do the same curriculum in Bixby that we are doing in Tulsa. Please let people know that we are hiring. We don’t know how many kids that will show up when we have our grand opening but we need to be ready!

Today Seungrok, April and I met with a contractor connected to our congregation and he and a helper will be in Bixby to finish up all the construction projects that are unfinished. I just couldn’t figure out how we were going to get it all done. It seemed wise to hire someone who has the skills to do it well and in a timely fashion. I will admit that I am so relieved and slept better last night than I have in weeks. As soon as the construction is done, we can deep clean and decorate! The fun work begins. The new sign is up and it needs some lighting attached before we have it turned on. It looks so great.

This Sunday we will conclude our sermon series using “It’s a Wonderful Life” clips and our conversation about our relationship with money. We will be “Looking with Gratitude” as we finish up. I have enjoyed this series and reflecting on the emotional side of money. We should all be living our best lives in healthy relationships that we value instead of stressing about money all the time. True joy comes in ways that don’t cost us anything. May we start to see with our hearts and give thanks for the abundance that we have.

I love you and God loves you! Thank you to everyone for the kind remembrances for Pastor Appreciation Month. Pastor Seungrok and I are feeling very loved and cared for.
