Faith Bixby
It’s been a year!
It is amazing to think that I have been at Faith for a year now. From starting as a volunteer assisting on the worship team to being appointed as church planter for the Bixby campus this is more than I ever imagined when I arrived in Oklahoma July 2026. I was grateful to be able to use my gifts and assist with the worship team, especially at such a challenging time for Pastor Heather as she was caring for her father. How I got from there to being appointed to lead the Bixby campus still bewilders me. I was firm in declining Pastor Heather’s invitation to come on board as the church planter for Bixby, so I am not exactly sure as I ended up in this position. Apparently, God had a plan unawares to me. And I must say this experience has truly been a blessing.
Almost a year ago, November 2025, Faith Bixby held its first worship service at a location that many of you spent hours repairing, cleaning, and preparing for use. Now, you come to support us in worship and our many ministries and activities. Any Sunday I can look into the congregation and see familiar faces from Faith Tulsa joining us in worship. Likewise, whether it was VBS, Family Fun Night, or the Calvert Concert, Faith Tulsa was present, volunteering, and always inquiring about ways to help. Having the support of Faith Tulsa is priceless.
The support of Faith Tulsa has come in many ways. Having Annabelle Doolin as a ministry leader for Kids Connection has been a wonderful asset. The Faith Bixby families, especially the kids, love Ms. Annabelle. She makes their time fun and inviting. And recently, Annabelle has helped us in welcoming Rowan Knight, who is serving as the ministry leader for our Youth. Rowan is a child of Faith Tulsa, growing up as a part of the youth ministry with Jonathon Garrett and Mark Fowler. It is always a precious moment when one of our own expresses an interest in serving the ministries of the church. Faith Bixby is blessed to have two Christ-centered servants from Faith Tulsa as part of our staff.
In addition to Rowan serving as the Youth Ministry Assistant Director, he will also be serving as the Visuals Tech Lead as we say goodbye to Matt Cox. This Sunday we will have an Appreciation Reception for Matt Cox as he prepares for where God is leading him next. I am extremely grateful for the dedication Matt has shown as a part of the Faith Bixby staff. Not only was Matt a part of the tech team, but I could count on him to assist with almost everything. There was not a need at Bixby that Matt did not quietly fill. We wish Matt all the best in his future endeavors and look forward to his visits when he returns to Bixby.
We are excited to report that currently Faith Bixby is fully staffed and planning our one-year anniversaries (yes, plural). We will commemorate our one-year anniversary of our first worship service in November; then, in February, we will celebrate the one-year anniversary of our official launch and ribbon cutting. We are looking forward to having you join us for these celebrations as we worship the amazing God that we serve.
