Next week is VBS!
As the weather outside warms up, the Tulsa church is so very cool. Our Snowball Mountain Challenge is taking shape and there are snowflakes everywhere! I helped my daughter create a giant ice sculpture arch for the entryway. My husband and Ed G. created an igloo for the narthex. Randy hung the clouds and snowflakes down the hall and mounted all the backdrops. Annabelle, Linda, Hillary and I all hung things from the ceilings and spent time going up and down ladders. Cindy and Amy fluffed and fluffed the trees. The front office volunteers were busy everyday cutting, taping and assembling things. We now have one hundred and fifteen kids registered. The last training for volunteers is on Sunday and we could use a few more folks if you could commit to even one day of helping. Our VBS Design Team has been meeting for months and planning this community event. It is so important in so many ways because most of the kids are not part of our church.
Thank you to everyone who donated water and cookies. We now have enough for the week of our Tulsa VBS. It is exciting that we will also be hosting kids in Bixby for a July Snowball Mountain Challenge. (It is kinda a winter olympic theme
I have been a kid attending VBS at my home church, I have been an adult volunteer and I have been the VBS director. It taught me scripture that I still have memorized today. It gave me community and let me make new friends. I loved seeing all the work and planning coming to fruition. This is a vital and important part of the ministry of this congregation. It has contributed to the lives of our kids that we have on the rolls and students that we have never met. Thank you for supporting the ministries to kids in our congregation. So many churches say that young people are the main priority but then never budget for the ministry to actually happen. We are so blessed to have kids in the church and to have the resources to provide this experience for them. If you are not helping, please pray for all of us who will be gathering with our kids and singing praise to the Lord!
Have a great weekend and get ready for winter next week,
