The Snow is coming!
Some of you may remember a few years ago when the weather reporters said that Tulsa was guaranteed six inches of snow with a 100% chance of it happening. Then the storm split as it traveled north and east and it went to Owasso and south Bixby. We cancelled church and there was no snow. With that said, I will always make the decision based on safety. I do not want anyone to be involved in an automobile accident trying to get to church in the snow. So, if there is snow on the ground Saturday, we will NOT have church. But if there is not any snow on Saturday, I will get up early on Sunday and drive to the church to determine if it is safe to stay open. If we wake up to snow covered roads on Sunday, we will only offer worship on Facebook live-streamed from my home at 11:00 am. Since I have no gifts of music, I will be doing the prayers for the day, liturgy and sermon. You are invited to snuggle up under your blankets and hold a hot beverage as we do virtual time together.
If your home loses electricity, please let me know. We can open the church for folks to stay warm and charge phones, etc. Last time lots of us were without electricity it was off for seven days. We want to help in any way we can to make you more comfortable. My husband is from Wisconsin and I have four wheel drive so I am in much better shape than a lot of people to help.
If we are snowed in this weekend, I encourage you to make the most of this forced sabbath time to be still and reflect on the beauty and wonder of God’s creation. Turn off your screens and be fully present with those you love. And if you live alone, pick up your phone and call people that you haven’t talked to in a long time. Spread some love and laughter around!
I will be praying for everyone to be safe.
Love you,
